BEYOND NUMBERS

Executive Burnout? Consider The Beyond Numbers’ Formula!

Jakarta, 02 April 2025
A friend of mine—let’s call him Alex—is someone many would consider wildly successful. In his mid-40s, he’s a top financial executive with a career most people dream of.
But recently, he confided in me about something unexpected: despite having what looks like a “perfect life” from the outside, he’s been feeling… uneasy.

It’s not a sudden feeling. He traces it back to about five years ago, when the weight of constant high-pressure decisions, sky-high expectations, and complex problems started to take its toll. Over time, the stress began to pile up. Things that used to feel manageable now feel overwhelming. He’s noticed he’s become more emotional over small things, and even though he’s disciplined about exercising, eating well, and getting enough sleep, that underlying unease keeps growing.

Here’s the twist: his company has been performing exceptionally well over the past two years. By all accounts, he’s winning. But instead of feeling fulfilled, he’s feeling drained—like the energy he once had to chase his ambitions is slipping away. He’s even started questioning his life direction, wondering if he’s on the right path.

The hardest part? He’s struggling to open up about it. He worries that sharing his inner battles might change how his team, boss, or clients see him. And while he wants to lean on his loved ones, he’s afraid of burdening them with his worries.

Sound familiar? Have you ever felt this way—like you’re running on empty, even when everything seems to be going right?

When Alex opened up to me about his struggles, I shared my framework for living a fulfilled life: The Beyond Numbers’ Success Formula. To me, true balance comes from nurturing three pillars—Well-Being (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), Wealth, and Wisdom—and understanding how small, compounding actions in these areas create exponential results over time.”

As we talked, it became clear that Alex was experiencing physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion—and grappling with identity and existential questions about his purpose, sense of self, and direction.

I told him something important: This is normal. What he’s going through is part of the natural ebb and flow of life, especially during the mid-life cycle. For years, Alex had been running on what I call a “full-loaded tank of energy”—pushing hard, meeting demands, and achieving incredible things.
But now, his tank was overflowing, leaving no room for growth. It wasn’t failure; it was an imbalance in his Success Formula—a sign he’d overlooked the compounding power of small, intentional shifts in Well-Being, Wealth, and Wisdom.
The good news? This imbalance is a sign to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. It’s not about stopping—it’s about finding a new rhythm to refill your tank and restore harmony

Finding Balance with the Success Formula
Alex’s story is a reminder that success isn’t just about wealth or achievements—it’s about harmony in The Beyond Numbers’ Success Formula. When one pillar is neglected, it ripples into every aspect of our lives, leaving us drained or unfulfilled.

If you’re feeling like Alex—overwhelmed, exhausted, or questioning your path—you’re not alone. Here’s how to start restoring balance:

General steps to help you begin restoring balance:

1. Acknowledge Your Feelings Without Judgment: It’s okay to feel uneasy. These emotions are signals, not failures. Accept them without blame—this is the first step toward healing.

2. Empty and Refill Your Tank Regularly: Give yourself permission to rest, recharge, and reconnect with what brings you joy. Whether it’s a hobby, time with loved ones, or simply stillness, prioritize it.

3. Expand Your Perspective: You don’t have to navigate this alone. Lean on mentors, friends, or professionals to gain clarity. Sometimes, an outside view reveals blind spots in your Well-Being, Wealth, or Wisdom.

4. Reflect on Your Beyond Numbers’ Success Formula: Take a moment to assess where you might be out of balance. Ask yourself:

  • Am I neglecting my physical, mental, or emotional well-being?
  • Am I chasing wealth at the expense of purposeful growth?
  • Am I investing in wisdom—contributing more than I take?
  • Am I clear about my life direction today?
  • Am I serving others, not just myself?
  • Am I overly fixated on past achievements

Progress, Not Perfection
Remember, this isn’t a step back—it’s a step forward. As we all know, life isn’t about getting it ‘right’—it’s about compounding progress, one intentional step at a time. The Beyond Numbers’ Success Formula isn’t a rigid rulebook; it’s a flexible guide to help you align with what matters most.

So, take a deep breath, look in the mirror, and remind yourself: You are enough, just as you are.
